La Herencia Negrense Subdivision in Bacolod City is a modern residential community located in Barangay Mandalagan. Unlike the historic ancestral houses found in other parts of Negros Occidental, this subdivision does not have a centuries-old history. However, its name reflects the rich culture and heritage of the Negrense people.

Meaning of the Name
The name “La Herencia Negrense” is Spanish-inspired and means “The Negrense Heritage.” It represents the pride of Negros Occidental in its traditions, history, and cultural identity, especially during the time when the island’s sugar industry brought prosperity to many Negrense families.
Although the subdivision itself is modern, the name was chosen to honor the heritage and legacy of Negros.
Development of the Subdivision
La Herencia Negrense Subdivision was developed during the period when Bacolod City started expanding rapidly, particularly in the northern areas such as Barangay Mandalagan. As the city’s population and economy grew, the demand for residential communities also increased.
The subdivision was built to provide:
-
Secure residential housing
-
Convenient access to the city center
A peaceful neighborhood for families
Like many modern communities in Bacolod, it features paved roads, drainage systems, and gated access, providing safety and comfort for residents.
Part of Bacolod’s Urban Growth
The development of La Herencia Negrense is part of Bacolod City’s transformation from an agricultural center into a growing urban hub in Western Visayas. Over the years, new subdivisions have appeared as the city expanded due to the growth of businesses, schools, hospitals, and commercial establishments.
Because of this urban development, areas like Mandalagan and nearby barangays have become important residential zones in the city.
Properties Being Sold
On social media, it can be noticed that some properties in the subdivision are being sold by their owners. According to locals, many of the original property owners now live abroad and have decided to sell their houses or land.
Most of their relatives are also living overseas, and they usually return to Bacolod only for vacations or visits. Since some families already have homes elsewhere and have no plans to live in the subdivision again, they choose to sell their properties instead.
Today, La Herencia Negrense Subdivision remains a quiet residential neighborhood in Bacolod City, offering a comfortable place to live while carrying a name inspired by the heritage of Negros Occidental.
